A star would be removed, right?
Firstly, the flag of the European Union does not represent any countries, just the collective organisation that the countries are a part of.
Also it is not technically a flag…. member states were worries about the flag of the EU replacing their own national flags. Officially, the above design is “an emblem that is eligible to be reproduced on rectangular pieces of fabric”. Oh the bureaucracy!
Secondly, the stars on the EU flag don’t represent the member nations. According to the European Union’s website the 12 stars stand for,”the ideals of unity, solidarity and harmony among the peoples of Europe.” The stars on the EU flag are fairly arbitrary according to official sources.
